BASU events Tip of the Week – Personalizations!

Some great ways to personalize your event is by adding custom touches. I was so excited for our day, I wanted to the day to represent us and be able to reuse and cherish forever! This is how we did it.

1. Color Theme: originally we were going with rust & eggplant. We changed it to green and yellow paired with a neutral gray to incorporate hub’s fave team, the Packers! I updated the palette with modern tones. We also did menu cards and name cards to add pops of color to the table without looking overdone.

We used lemons from our lemon tree as the name card holder! I paired them with mini topiary trees to bring in the green tones.

I worked with Jenrik Designs, and Jenni was amazing to collaborate with. We edited her design to incorporate my tones, added custom verses and changed the layout. She was quick, affordable and the end product was high quality! I cannot wait to work with her with future events!

2. Custom Cake Toppers:

Hubs did not know about this surprise! It was more than I wanted to pay, but I asked my girl Michelle if it was worth it. She had a great idea – use them as Christmas tree decorations. DONE! The quality was totally worth it &hubs loved it!!

P.S. Did a last minute change to the cake. Swapped out ivory for a pale yellow (over the phone – scary!),.I asked them in between a pastel and gold. Also swapped out the frosting flowers for fresh flowers (left over from the bouquets I made for the bridesmaids)! All about using what you have.

2. Personalized handkerchief: Made a grand appearance during the ceremony to dry a tear.

I had a checklist for the big day. I was not about to use a Kleenex or my arms to wipe away potential tears. I went on a mission to find a personalized handkerchief I could always have and remember our wedding day. And I found it! Birds Eye View was so quick to make and ship it and we worked on the layout together and a great price! Check them out!

3. Wedding Favors:  As we love to cook, we did a homemade BBQ rub in glass jars. We added a label, a tag with the ingredients, tied a string  – Viola! And our guests can re-use the jar. Win/Win!

4. Centerpieces – As I don’t like cut flowers, we used potted herbs that our guests could take home and enjoy for seasons to come. My gal Nina has fabulous writing, labels the herbs. I added a pop by adding a zebra stripe ribbon in our color scheme to complete the look.

It all looks so beautiful, and thanks for giving my cake toppers a shot out, I’ll put your cake pic on my blog with a link back to you :)

Great ideas! It’s simple, yet it all looks very elegant. Since it’s all about using what you have and I know you like to reuse items, what do you plan to do with your dress now that the wedding is over?

Great question Kay! I actually pulled my dress out when I saw your post… Originally I was going to cut my dress to wear as a cocktail dress (on our anniversaries). The only problem is that I adore my train and can’t bear to cut it! I also can’t bear to never wear it again! So, I may look into having it detachable. I will keep you posted. :) What do you think?
